It was released 4000 years before The events in A New Hope; this was a game that took Star Wars and RPG games in a completely new direction. It uses the same mechanics as its successor KOTOR 2, Knights of the Old Republic, and just a little bit edges it to be the number 1 game, based on the more extensive storyline and the innovations contained within.
