When people think of first player shooter (FPS) games, Call of Duty is the most common name that is associated with FPS gaming. In the past, for better or worse, COD was a giant when it came to FPS game consoles. In February of this year, DICE (EA Digital Illusions Creative Entertainment) announced that they were developing Battlefield 3, and this caused shockwaves throughout the gaming world. For the first time since 2005, they announced an immediate sequel Battlefield 2, one of the most popular FPS games ever released. Not just did it make Battlefield 3 highly hyped, but it was also due out one week before Modern Warfare 3. It quickly turned into the subject of a Battlefield. vs. Call of Duty battle to claim FPS supremacy. This was a subtle message to the infinity ward that, after four years of reign, the status of the reigning kings of FPS games was under attack and could be ending. After a little over one year of the two games coming out and all the hype is gone, can Battlefield 3 dethrone Call of Duty as the reigning king of gaming console FPS games?
Graphics, Sound, and Setting:
Battlefield 3 is set in the near future. The game is mainly played in multiplayer, but it has a single-player campaign mode. In the single campaign mode, you are in charge of different military operations like an army re-enforcement marine or an officer of force recon, a Russian officer in spec operations as well as the F-18 pilot as well as an M1A2 tank pilot. The plot is a fascinating one. Battlefield 3 is surprisingly exciting and exciting. As you move through the story, there are numerous twists and twists. The primary theme of this story revolves around the upcoming conflict that is set in 2014 and extends across Iran up to France. Battlefield 3 does an excellent job of weaving the action and the narrative together. In the end, Battlefield 3 has an excellent single-player story.
While the plot is solid but one thing that many people have is the graphics. When DICE showed Battlefield 3 at gaming conventions, The graphics were breathtaking. The shots of the tank, as well as Sands from Kirkland, were truly unique. The quality of the footage was not seen in any other game prior to this.
But all that footage was pre-rendered and hoped to look great. In the real-time environment with thousands of dynamic variables, Did BF3 produce the same amount of dynamism and rich realism graphics? It certainly did. Battlefield 3 is, simply put, a fantastic game. DICE invested $100 million dollars in marketing, and it’s clear they were looking to showcase an item they’re proud of. Battlefield 3’s graphics are based on a brand-new Frostbite 2 engine and new character animation technology, the ANT. The Frostbite engine allows the game to produce massive detail, dynamic shadows, and smooth textures throughout the vast environment while being completely destroyed. The ANT character animation is stunning, and every soldier appears incredibly real, with facial expressions that alter as the action gets heated up.
The single-player campaign of Battlefield 3 spans many locations, including Iran, New York, and Paris. The majority of the regions are urban, with lots of buildings, and DICE has done an excellent job in bringing clarity to every area. There are lots of bright colors, and Battlefield 3 is an excellent game with a wide range of landscapes.
The graphics of games that are multiplayer-based are imposing. There are nine maps in the main map which do not include the content that is available for download. The maps include Caspian Border, Damavand Peak, Grand bazaar, Kharg Island, Noshahr Canals, Operation Firestorm, Operation Metro, Seine Crossing, and Tehran Highway. Each map has distinct elements and styles. DICE did an excellent job in creating a unique multiplayer experience with every map. Caspian Border can be described as a forest map, which is actually vast. It has forests and buildings and is great for sniping or using vehicles. Damavand Peak is located in a rainy, dark market. Kharg Island is an island of sand and an ocean around it. Noshahr Canals is set in an industrial area that has numerous canals to fight.
Seine Crossing is a bright-colored map that is centered in Paris. Tehran Highway is the last main map, and it’s located in an urban area of Iran in the evening. In general, the graphics of Battlefield 3 are exceptional; from the single-player campaign to the many multiplayer maps, there’s plenty of variety on each map visually.
The sound of Battlefield 3 is some of the finest audio quality I’ve ever heard from any game. Every bullet that whizzes by sounds crisp and realistic, and when you’re good enough, you can tell the source of the sound. The jets, tanks, and other sounds of vehicles are all genuine. Voice acting in the game is excellent, and you really feel as if you are a participant in the game. The game also includes an official soundtrack with 19 tracks written by Johan Skugge and Jukka Rintamki. The sound quality in Battlefield 3 is awe-inspiring. The graphics of Battlefield 3 are exceptional; from the single-player campaign to the varied multiplayer maps, there’s plenty of variety in every map visually.

Controls and Gameplay:
The controls of Battlefield 3 are your standard First-person shooter controls. You can customize them, but the default configuration is to use L1 to aim, and R1 shoot, which is controlled with an analog stick left. Right analog sticks let the camera move around. Pressing the analog stick lets you sprint. The triangle button lets you switch weapons; the circle is utilized for interaction with other objects within the surrounding environment; the square is used to reload or grab weapons, while the X button allows you to leap. The left and right diagonal buttons allow you to switch between different technologies available, while the up button can be used to switch the laser sight, while the down button can be used to switch between different fire modes, such as automatic or burst fire. The R2 button can be used to make an extremely short knife, and the L2 button lets you throw a Frag the grenade. The controls are simple to master, but they are challenging to master. The controls used for driving tanks as well as flying jets could be a bit confusing at first and have a short learning curve. Overall the controls are excellent to use in Battlefield 3.
The graphics, excellent audio quality, and engaging story are all impressive and form the stage for games. All of them cannot compare to the most crucial aspect of games. The gameplay is at the center and heart of games. DICE faced a daunting task to create a gaming experience that would be quick as well as exciting and challenging enough to remove Call of Duty from its dominance as the console gaming king. The DICE team DICE was successful in a variety of areas but failed in several.
Battlefield 3 uses the Frostbite 2 engine. This engine can create fully destructible environments, sophisticated physical physics, and real-time radiosity. These features suggest that the physics, as well as graphic design that are present in Battlefield 3, are vastly improved for almost every game that came before it. Bullets can cut through walls with ease as well as the front of a building could be torn open by an incoming tank shot, and an exploding grenade can send particles flying all over the place after it explodes. Battlefield 3 is one of the most realistic FPS games available. There are a lot of things that can occur; however, the frostbite two engine helps to streamline them and makes the gameplay smoothly, rendering textures at a fast rate. This allows excitement and action to occur without delay. There are three modes of play in Battlefield 3: the single-player campaign, multiplayer mode, and co-op mode.
The single-player campaign looks fantastic and includes several locations; however, it’s pretty repetitive. The reality is Battlefield 3 is primarily a multiplayer game. The single-player mode is an excellent method to learn the basics before going online or in co-op; however, it doesn’t offer any real replayability. It would have been nice to have seen offline maps from Battlefield 2, where you are able to play against bots. But, Battlefield 3 does not offer this feature.
The co-op mode allows players to work with another player online and complete six missions. There are many goals that you and your companion must accomplish in every mission. Co-op can be lots of fun with a partner, but Battlefield 3 doesn’t offer any co-op on a split-screen. This is a real problem for those who have friends playing because there’s no way to play in a group, with the exception of having two PlayStation 3s.
Its multiplayer game mode makes up the central feature for the player. Battlefield 3 has a multiplayer game mode. Battlefield 3, there are six multiplayer game modes: Conquest, Rush, Team Deathmatch, Squad Deathmatch, Conquest Domination, and Squad Rush. Each game mode has its own purpose and offers a unique multiplayer experience. Specific game modes require precision teamwork, while others are a player for themselves. For instance, the Conquest game mode is the most well-known Battlefield 3 game mode, in which two teams battle on an enormous map to take control of several bases. The game mode is ideal for teams and vehicles. According to my, conquest is the best game mode. It’s fun and offers many ways to earn points.
In a rush, There are two teams. One team is trying to attack and destroy an M-COM station while the other team defends it. Squad Rush is essentially similar, however, in a smaller, more restricted environment. Team Deathmatch is another popular game mode in which you’re playing as a member of a 12-person team against another 12 player team. The goal is to take out as many enemies as you can in order to achieve a number of kills together as a team. The game doesn’t feature vehicles, and it’s all about going out with guns in the air in order to kill as many players as you can. Squad Deathmatch is similar to Team Deathmatch, but instead of two teams of 12, it is a four-team affair comprising four people who fight against each other for a number of kills. Conquest Domination has two teams with eight players in close quarters. It’s like Conquest and is basically identical, with the exception that it’s less confined and more tactical strategy when trying to attack the base.
If you choose a game mode, there are four types to select. There is an Assault class, which is comprised of infantry soldiers, as well as the medics. The Assault class lets you accumulate kills as well as revive teammates who have died. The Engineer class can be used to fix vehicles and carry rocket launchers for taking out other vehicles. In the Support course, you’ll find a type that provides other classes with ammunition, and they have massive guns that can be used to kill a variety of enemies. Recon is the final class and is the snipers of the game. Recon can be helpful in getting rid of opponents from afar.
Battlefield 3 puts a significant emphasis on teamwork and teams. Every class has distinct strengths as well as weaknesses, and to be successful and win, using each of them is vital. In the event of joining a game called conquest or another game mode, you will be assigned to the group. The ability to think of strategies and decide on the best classes for the right situation is the thing that is what makes Battlefield 3 stand out from other shooter games for First Person. Battlefield 3 has VOIP support which means you can talk on headsets with your team and also use in-game messaging. Battlefield 3 is a solid game to play with just a few other people; However, when played with friends, it’s simply one of the most enjoyable games ever developed. The game is a tremendous team-based experience.
One of the issues with this game is the maps. The maps that are highly detailed could become annoying because they’re huge. It is possible to go for hours without fighting, and your health can be lost quickly. It is straightforward to lose your life in this game once you first begin. Another issue is the content that is available for download. There is no obligation to purchase DLC. However, the game can appear empty without the maps and other items. The DLC could increase the $60 cost of Battlefield 3 all the way up to $125. The biggest issue with BF3 is that it requires access to an online pass. The new games include online passes, but older games don’t. Online pass, however, used games do not. An online pass is only valid only once while purchasing the new pass costs $10. This was designed to boost sales. However, it can affect the resale value that Battlefield 3 has. Battlefield 3.

Do you think this game is worth purchasing? Final Thoughts:
Battlefield 3 does a lot of things well Its graphics are amazing, and the sound quality is top-notch while the gameplay is varied and thrilling. But it is also lacking in many areas. The lack of split-screen co-op features and no replayability for the single-player campaign, and no offline maps, costly DLC content, and gameplay that may get repetitive after a certain amount of time left much to be wanted. Battlefield 3 is ultimately not the game that was claimed to be when the first minutes of footage was released. But it’s certainly not an unfavorable game. If you purchase Battlefield 3, you’re getting an excellent, well-made First-person shooter. It’s like Call of Duty in the FPS aspect. However, the squad-based vehicle system, the vehicles, and the large maps provide a different experience. I highly recommend purchasing Battlefield 3; it is one of those games you’ll find yourself going back to time and repeatedly. Battlefield 3 is a solid game that is a must-buy to PlayStation 3 owners. I rate it 9/10.
