Few game franchises have as much recognition and are as popular in the same way as that of the Grand Theft Auto series. Since Grand Theft Auto 3 was released on its PlayStation 2, Rockstar has transformed the game industry. Grand Theft Auto is a game that has been a source of fun and controversy. Rockstar had proven itself capable of creating hit after hit, which was demonstrated when they launched Vice City and San Andreas games, which included Grand Theft Auto 3 and included a wealth of additional features. After having sold more than 20 million copies of Grand Theft Auto games, when GTA IV was announced for launch at the end of 2008, there was a lot of excitement. Even today, many years after the game’s release, Grand Theft Auto IV is among the top games on your PlayStation 3.
Graphics, Sound, and Setting:
Grand Theft Auto IV returns to Liberty City, the place that was the setting for GTA3 was held. Liberty City is based in New York City, and when you begin playing, you can see that Rockstar took the time to make the setting look as accurate as it can be. There are a lot of places on the map that appear similar to New York City, and it’s a realistic environment. Even after the game’s release, it’s still among the top games that immerse you in a completely immersive environment. The audio quality in GTA IV is alright; there’s a range of sounds to hear. The gun sounds are authentic, as is the acting excellent. I would have liked more music, as, without an FM radio station, there’s not any music available in GTA IV.
The game’s plot revolves around Nike Bellic, a former soldier from Eastern Europe who comes to the United States to achieve the “American dream.” Niko’s cousin Roman has been to the United States America earlier, and Roman tells Niko stories of women, wealth, and even success. This motivates Niko to go; however, when he arrives, it turns out that the things aren’t as simple as they appear.
The storyline of GTA IV is much deeper than in previous games. It is easy to feel the pain of Niko as he struggles through difficult moments. The characters are realistic and three-dimensional. The cut scenes seamlessly blend comedy and plot. There are numerous twists and turns that keep you guessing. The story is undoubtedly GTA IV’s most appealing feature. But, the narrative may be different from other games in certain instances. While other games featured plenty in the way of comedy, GTA IV is more serious in contrast. But that’s not to say there are no hilarious moments in the game. As with the other Grand Theft Auto games, there are plenty of hilarious moments that will keep you laughing out loud. GTA is a fantastic collection of characters that are interesting and original.

Controls and Gameplay:
The controls that you can use in GTA IV are, for the most part, identical to the controls in previous games. You can use triangles to steal cars. You also have the capability to jump over ledges and climb over things. You can also punch and pull out weapons, aim and shoot the weapons. But, GTA IV introduces some new features into the mix.
The significant modification in GTA IV is the system for covering. With GTA IV, you have the possibility of hiding behind objects. This can be useful as well as irritating. Cover systems can make fighting more realistic and also add an element of strategy to what could otherwise be just shooting, running, and shooting. However, the issue is taking cover in areas where you wouldn’t like to. In many instances in my game, I found myself being able to cover myself in front of the opponents. I think this cover feature is a fantastic feature; however, Rockstar would have been able to do more by using it.
The game follows an identical mission-based system that was used in previous games. In the main, there are those who assign tasks that you have to finish. The missions provide access to something completely new, for example, a new safehouse. But, they are mainly used to help you progress in the story. GTA IV is a wide-open game in which you have the option of spending your time completing missions or simply getting out and creating chaos. It’s possible to do whatever you’d like in the game. It’s delightful to steal an automobile and cruise around the streets occasionally. The gameplay can be boring at times, and the missions become repetitive occasionally. I can understand that Rockstar had to fill in some assignments to make up any gaps in the narrative; however, killing someone A or transporting an item from one point to b could become monotonous. The game’s gameplay is excellent and matches the quality standard of previous Grand Theft Auto games well.

Rent or Buy? Final Thoughts:
Grand Theft Auto IV is still an outstanding game several years after it’s been released. The vibrant environment, captivating story, and thrilling gameplay make it an experience that is well worth the money it costs in the present. Overall, I highly recommend purchasing this game, and I’d rate it an 8/10.
